We are four young musicians who all lead our sections
in the Shropshire
Youth Orchestra, and we founded the Cavatina String Quartet in September
1999. Since then, we have performed at
many functions in Shropshire and the Midlands.

We have a wide-ranging repertoire with many different styles of music
from all around the world, such as famous works by J. S.
Bach and Handel through
to more contemporary 20th century music and popular music such as Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, and
Fawlty Towers.
The quartet often feature at weddings, both before
the ceremony, as guests arrive, during the ceremony, and afterwards at the wedding
receptions. On several occasions we
have played at functions attended by the Lord
Lieutenant of Shropshire.
We also play at dinners and functions and sometimes more unusual
concerts such as when we played for the opening of the Windsor Life building in
Telford alongside Joan Collins.
In total we have performed well over a hundred times together over the
four years!
In April of 2002 we were invited to attend an
Education Day run by the London String Quartet Foundation at the Royal College
of Music in London. We enjoyed being
taught by some of the top professional tutors in the country.
